Comfort Food

Comfort Food completes the circle of the album with a second song about refugees. A couple
has been traveling for ages, on the run from someone else’s war. They have very little, and they have no stable living environment. The only comfort they can find is in the warmth of
their fire. There, together, they make their food.

Comfort Food – music & words by Live Poets Society

Sitting by the fire
Hands folded on her knees
Her dress is torn and dirty
It’s the warmth that gives her peace

Flames play their game of catch
As the ember’s glowing red
It takes away her sorrow
And lights her up instead

When times get rough, and life is tough
And it’s the cold she has to face
When the world weighs on her shoulders
She’s relying on the comfort
Of her fire place

Standing in the doorway
His hands are tightly squeezed
While he’s thinking of their journey
Across the desert and the seas

Cause their past is torn to pieces
And their dreams all fell apart
In this world they are the outcast
Because of someone else’s war

Their times are rough, and life is tough
And it’s the cold he has to face
When the world weighs on his shoulders
He goes back to the comfort
Of her fire place

When darkness falls they come together
In peace they cook their food
Though the feeling is unspoken
It is always understood

That when times get rough, and life is tough
And it’s the cold they have to face
When the world weighs on their shoulders
They can come back to the fire

When times get rough, and life is tough
And it’s the cold they have to face
When the world weighs on their shoulders
They can come back to the comfort
Of the fire place
